Third Floor

This was not a photo that I had pre-planned.  I was attending a workshop in a fantastic old building in Philadelphia, and during a break I found this very old elevator.  The only light in the hallway came from the interior of the elevator car.  It cast very interesting shadows on the floor that seemed to just intensify the aged feeling of the building’s lift.

The workshop was on High Key and Low Key lighting by the South Jersey Photography Group.  I highly recommend them, they get the essentials across in a highly effective, hands-on way.

  1. Sir – I don’t know why I like this, exactly. I started out Googling chiaroscuro, thinking to be able to draw some inspiration for a woodcut +/- 4 wks. in the making . The images of arches and columns are awesome!
